Fondest of childhood memories. We parked at Damon Crossing and packed into the bog to the north until we found remnants of old logging road that follows Bog Brook to the remnants of a bridge and spillway. Upstream from there is slow water for a while. Sometimes we went up Victory Hill and crawled downstream on Bog Brook to the site. Too old for that 💩 now.
There is primitive camping and then there is this. The only road into the forest is a snowmobile trail (thank god we drive a Jeep). The “camping” is literally pitching a tent on the side of a very steep mountain where there are no hiking trails, no access to water, and no service. If you are an off the path kind of hiker and camper than maybe this is for you but there isn’t even parking within miles. I don’t know where we would have parked or hiked from. I was hoping to find a small space in the forest and read but it just wasn’t what we were hoping for.
Insane spot for overlanding. You need a high clearance 4x4.
