If you do not have a reservation then you need to arrive by 10 AM. There are only about 3 first come first serve electric & water hookups MAYBE. They just made site 11 reservation site , when it was first come up until last month There are tent sites but still need to get here early. I've been coming here for 15 years and in all that time the bathrooms have been pretty filthy. But at least now there is a shower curtain up . If you are in an RV then prepare to have to level up some .Like 90% BLM campgrounds in New Mexico you won't find a very level spot. Nice views though and there is filter w…
Nice location. Bathroom and shower area wasn't clean, couldn't see in the mirrors, and no shelf for setting things in the shower stalls. Is difficult to find camp site after dark as the number is by the picnic tables and not at the end of the drives and next to no lights.
The campground has fantastic views. We also enjoyed the handicap assessable hiking trails among the lava grounds. It’s too bad that some dog owners just left poo bags along the trail.
