Hidden gem in the mountains
Great hiking, fishing, camping park. Near to Helen and Hiawasse. Number lodging options. Next to popular Anna Ruby Falls. Appalachian Trail nearby. Brasstown Bald.
We camped here for few nights. Still needs TLC around the park and the park is still beautiful. Friendly staff.
We stayed at barrel cabin 1. It was grungy and in need of updating. The non stick coating on the cookware was so scratched and old, it was unusable. The inserts under the stove coils were filthy. The dishwasher flatware basket was broken out on the bottom. There were cobwebs on the ceiling. The entire cabin reeked of old bacon grease. The comforter had brown stains. The "amount due" at check in was $41 more than advertised. Bring your own coffee, because what they provide is horrible. At least the mattress was comfortable and the towels were clean.
