Lived here all throughout my time at UF and I have nothing but nice things to say about Travelers Campground. The campground is impeccable, very well cared for by an incredibly nice staff. They are on top of everything and always looking to add more to the experience of living here. It is located just off the interstate, exit 399, and about 5 minutes away from a Lowe's, a Publix, and a Walgreens. It is about 15 minutes away from Gainesville; close enough for it to be a nice, short drive, yet far enough to enjoy the peace and quiet of Alachua. This campground charges the highest cancellation fee in all of Florida—$25—even if you cancel two months in advance. It is permanently off my list of places to book.
We stayed one night at Travelers Campground in Alachua, FL and were genuinely impressed. The price was very reasonable at around $88 for a full‑hookup, 50‑amp pull‑through site, which is hard to beat for what you get. From the moment we arrived, the staff stood out—friendly, welcoming, and clearly passionate about their park. They even greeted us with two bags of carrots and took the time to explain all the animals on the property, including donkeys, goats, chickens, a horse, an emu, macaws, and pigs. One of our favorite places to stay! Very friendly staff and extremely convenient location. Bonus - they have silky chickens too…and pigs, goats, donkeys.
