The Higgins Lake Campground

Camp sites were "ok", but not very level. Full hookup, unfortunately water and sewer were on opposite sides(?). Because of the site, I had to (try) dump uphill. Bathrooms in the middlel of the park needed some TLC. They were out of TP for almost 2 days, even after calling the front office. Showers and floors were dirty, no hot water one night. We had to pay $35 each for the 3 of us to camp next to each other, even though the park was only 1/3 full (and we all booked at the same time). I camp May-September every year and have camped many places. This place was the worst I have been to, especially for Labor Day weekend. For the price, I would expect the place to at least be maintained/cleaned up. Bathroom was disgusting, there was toilet paper all over the floor but none to use, the floor was covered in I’m not sure what. The double giant dumpster were both overflowing and the smell was so strong you don’t even want to walk up to set your bag next to it. Labor Day weekend and the place was a ghost town. They need to get some staff to go around and actually maintain the place …

Sad to say , first and last time here. It was $80 per night and was SEVERELY OVERPRICED for what you get. Overall it’s a little undercard for as far as appearance. Weeds weeds and more weeds. Absolutely nothing but overpriced trinkets in store…. No food items or regular stuff you might purchase at a campground store. Labor Day weekend stay and NO SOAP in all three bathroom sinks…. After complaining and waiting two days…. Finally soap….campsite number so overgrown with a tree/weed we had a severely hard time finding sight. Higgins Lake Campground is a place that I would avoid. I generally like to give positive reviews but I cannot with this particular campground. It is way overpriced for very little. We are in camp site number 45. Please avoid this slot at all cost. It's bad enough when your campsite Number is covered by a bush, which doesn't help when you're trying to park at night and find your campsite. Not to mention it took us 15 minutes of searching in the dark for the water Spicket as it is in the back of somebody else's lot and is shared. We thought for the longest that we had no full hook up. This campground does not have very good upkeep. Our site had very little grass, we had to try and level on an inclined, sandy dirt site (tried two different ones) picnic table on site had a broken, unusable bench, bathrooms were filthy including spiders and large cobwebs. No place to ride our bikes in the campground since all paths were this grated up sand/dirt combination, except a couple up front. Evidently this used to be a decent campground, but no one seems to care about upkeep. Save your money and don’t bother with this one.
