Stout's Island Lodge

The reviews seem mixed, and I can certainly understand why. Stout's Island Lodge is a truly unique, historical place and I do recommend it. My bride and I went on two separate occasions in July 2025 and stayed in three different rooms. We thoroughly enjoyed our time on the island, exploring the trails, and relaxing by the water. It is a beautiful site.|Given the historical nature of the site, you cannot expect perfection. Roofs were being repaired during our stay. The rooms weren't cleaned as thoroughly as we would like. Incredible historic lodge. Well worth a stay. This is a wonderful place to visit with your family for a unique get-away. As the operator of a retreat center myself, I will say that Stout's could step up the cleaning somewhat. We actually stayed in three different rooms over the course of several days. The cleaning was noticeably lacking in a couple of the rooms and there were lights that weren't working. All that aside, I would still recommend the lodge and we'll be returning.

Photographing weddings at Stout’s Island Lodge is such a dream. It has a nostalgic Northwoods charm you just can’t replicate anywhere else. It truly feels like a unique getaway destination rather than just a wedding venue. There’s this laid-back, joyful energy there that makes the entire wedding celebration feel different than any other wedding. It’s more intentional, more connected, more memorable. If you’re looking for something that breaks away from the traditional ballroom vibe and gives your guests an experience they’ll talk about for years, this is it!!
