Red Rock Campground

Was going to be passing through, and I strictly only stay on federal lands and campgrounds, but this place wants to charge an $8 "reservation fee" on top of a night stay. For that price we can go stay DTLV at the Koa, with a pool and dog park. I hope this place shuts down.

Loved it here! (Funny to be so near the city, just on the other side of the hills, but back here it's all wild, open and quiet). Arrived on a Monday and spent 4 nites. I reserved 1 of the 6 RV spots online before arriving ($30/primitive camping)-- Those spots are straight back, thru the fence. Main camping is all to the right. There's a potable water spigot near the vault toilet with picnic tables and BBQ at each site. Area was full of campers for a few days then it cleared out before we left. Enjoyed some canyon hikes.

Wonderful place, not too crowded; was able to play spikeball in the middle of the road. Romantic monopoly deal lighting provided by the Luxor beam. Despite the pentagon sized tent Alex brought, someone’s dog still managed to break in and eat all of Zupa’s food. Michael played big fish on repeat for 6 hours and there were no complaints from the neighbors. Phil got the Tacos El Gordo Nopal kick and there were plenty of extra cacti for him to munch on at the site. Four stars because Ryan inhaled too much dust playing spikeball and kept me up all night coughing.

Great campground, nice and clean. I visit when they open in the fall. Not all of the sites have shelters, which I think they should. I think they should charge $5 more for the shelter sites and raise the funds that way to build shelters on the rest of the sites. Oh, and it's only 15 min to Costco, Traders Joe's, and the casino!
