This is a nice spot because the views are pretty and it’s very private. I couldn’t tell from the description but this is a single campsite; no one else around. Being able to have our dogs off leash was a special treat for them. The Punker’s Cafe down the hill is a fun spot for coffee and breakfast and it’s a nice walk from the campsite.
This was exactly what we needed. A quiet remote, single campsite surrounded by nature. The view is stunning with great opportunities for photography or casual hiking among the vineyard. Todd is a great host, he made us feel welcome from the beginning. For our Thor Compass 23te it was the perfect size to settle in. I'm a writer so the environment was perfect for thinking, reading and writing. The place feels nostalgic and real. The way a working vineyard should feel. The rustic environment is perfect for people who love to get away from the maddening crowds.
Our trip to Rancho Esquandolas was amazing. What an incredible place. The scenery was spectacular right in the heart of the San Diego County wine region. And, we felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. It rained part of the time but it just added so much more to the scenery around us as the clouds flowed over the mountains. Our host Todd couldn’t have been any nicer and made sure we had what we needed. We cannot wait to go back time and time again.
We had one small car, three people, two dogs and two tents and not a single other person in sight, which was just what we wanted! The views are spectacular and very peaceful all around. There is a winery within walking distance.

While waiting for the host, I proceeded to drive on the property. I parked my van up one of the vineyard rows. When I got out of my vehicle, I noticed the grounds were extremely dry and overgrown with weeds. I let my dog out to roam, however, the ground was too rough and it was pretty hot. I put my dog back in the van. While I was trying to figure out how to set up, a bee flew in my van, unbeknownst to me. My dog stepped …
Nice, beautiful, and secluded. Had a fun time great for hikes and relaxing. Stars are amazing!
