Great campground, clean restrooms & showers. I use to love coming here as a kid. It’s close enough to the city that it makes it a breeze to go camping spur of the moment. We took our kayaks with us & hit the river. Our buddy had never been here but said it reminds him of the Au Sable river because of the size of the river. It’s just keeps on going & going. Lots of other kayakers & canoes on the water. They even had a place that rented kayaks & u can use the restrooms & buy drinks etc while there.
We were visiting our friends who had their RV parked there for the weekend. I didn't realize that a state park parking permit would have been handy here! No worries, the Ranger at the entrance sold us a window sticker pass. Super friendly too given the torrential downpour we were in at the time of our arrival. It was great seeing lots of kids running around having fun without the glow of electronic devices in their hands!
