After paying the entrance, there are 2 main trails 6 and 7 miles long, mostly sandy and exposed, not much canopy but very tranquil. Saw some foxes and other wildlife there too.
Props to the Florida Forest Service! An awesome piece of public land right outside of Englewood. Low entrance fee of $2, and is money well spent. Beautifully managed longleaf flatwoods, with several well maintained trails. Would recommend the Gordon Smith Memorial Trail for anyone looking an easy, short walk with beautiful views. For a state forest, as opposed to a state park or national park, I was impressed with the quality of trails and cleanliness of bathrooms. The georeferenced PDF available online was awesome, and would recommend to anyone visiting.
