Mount Rushmore KOA Resort at Palmer Gulch Resort

Stayed here many times, during the rally. Always welcomed, by someone willing to assist - even during the darned rain storms. From tent camping, to cabins, I’ve never had a bad stay here - and Hill City makes moving to South Dakota look better, and better, all the time. Pretty disappointed in this park. This was my first time in a resort KOA, having been in many journey and holiday parks. With that said, this was the most rundown of any of the KOA‘s I’ve been in. The water pressure at our RV site was virtually zero, the bathrooms are in a state of significant disrepair, as are the showers. Fortunately, the shower had great hot water and water pressure but that’s about the only thing I can say about this park that really stood out. We got a good price because it’s off-season but I can’t imagine how I would feel staying in season at the high rates they charg…

We were very happy with our stay at Palmer Gulch. The rooms in the lodge were comfortable, the food at the Peak Tap Room was great, breakfast at the Prospectors Tent was good, the Chuck Wagon dinner is a must do, great food, and entertainment!

We stayed here while visiting Mt Rushmore and Crazy Horse. This campground is conveniently located to both. The needles highway is close by and a real treat to drive. The open field behind our site was great to walk our dogs, on leash, eventhough you will find some who will let their dogs run free:/ There was a pickleball court to help us to get some additional exercise besides walking our dogs on some of the campground roads and paths. The camp store is super big and of course the ice cream was a huge hit for us. Check in had nice large area. Playground, laundry, clean showers, and friendly…
