Montebello Camping & Fishing Resort

I was very leery of this campground after reading some of the warnings about towing trailers there. I know the road is somewhat narrow, but off of the Blue Ridge Parkway, it is just not bad at all. It was so beautiful to be there during the fall and to find an RV Spot that still felt like camping and not just parking in a parking lot. My family stayed in the Crabtree cabin. The cabin was very cozy and clean. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen was well stocked with the necessary utensils to cook and to use the grill. Each cabin has a front porch with a table and chairs, a charcoal grille, and a firepit that can be cooked on surrounded by Adirondack chairs. The camp store is just a short walk away and carries most of the necessities including firewood. There is a lake that you can kayak and fish on. Lovely campground with plenty of amenities, clean facilities, and a short drive to Crabtree Falls! My dog Gunner loves this place. Highly recommend!

Nice campground, clean bathrooms. No internet, Wi-Fi “provided by campground “ is actually 1/4 mile walk away because you aren’t allowed to drive and sit in your car while connected. Our site had rotting and unstable railroad ties as steps up to the fire ring and picnic table. And finally, there was an old discarded mattress in wooded about 20 feet from the fire ring, which was so gross.

While, I could write many words about how wonderful my experience was here, I will spare the detail and give you what you’re looking for. This is a beautiful, off the beaten path, full hook up campsite with incredible trees and wonderful fishing. You must be well-versed in getting your Starlink a clear view of the sky and it may take some work to get it there. There is zero cell service but the office has free WiFi, firewood, snacks, beer, fishing gear and more. Rick, the camp host, and Faye from the office were particularly nice to us!
