This accessible cabin is 23’x15’ with dramatic 18’ ceilings, a queen bed with giant windows overlooking the woods, a full, accessible bathroom (toilet, sink, and a stupidly luxurious roll-in shower) a sleeper sofa with an actually comfortable queen foam mattress, and a small kitchenette (sink, countertop, mini refrigerator, dishes, silverware, basics for cooking, kettle, and tea). This cabin comes supplied with linens for the queen bed (sheets, down comforter, and pillows), linens for the sleeper sofa (sheets, pillows, and blankets), and towels for four. The layout of the bed and dining table can be adjusted depending on access needs. The cabin also has an outdoor seating area with four Adirondack chairs, an accessible picnic table and fire ring (w/ integrated grill), and bistro lights for evening ambience. The front and back entrances to the cabin are equipped with ramps. This cabin has been designed just like our other cabins, but with some minor differences to ensure it can be enjoyed by all! Whether you book it for access needs or not, there is no better place to unwind. The cabin is located in the recently renovated campground at the Desert of Maine, an iconic tourist attraction established in 1926. The campground is small, quiet, and serene, surrounded by tall northern pines at the edge of the Desert’s rolling sand dunes, which were deposited there at the end of the last ice age. The tourist attraction includes fascinating exhibits about the history, ecology, and geology of the Desert, activities for kids, a train ride, mini golf, and much more. Campground guests enjoy free access to the dunes after hours, and discounted tickets for mini golf and general admission for daytime visits. Come to the place where Wanderers Unwind. You will have the entire cabin on a dedicated campsite, all to yourself. In addition, you will have access to our renovated, cedar bath house, which is just steps away, with individual showers. However, please note that the bathhouse is an older building that is not accessible. ADDITIONAL RULES - The Desert of Maine Campground is a quiet, serene campground. Please act accordingly. - ​Quiet Hours are from 10:00 pm to 8:00 am. Guests arriving or departing during quiet hours should pretend the campground is filled with light-sleeping, hardened street fighters who just start scrapping when they are awoken. If someone is not respecting quiet hours, please call or text us. Guests who violate our quiet hours policy will be given one warning. After the first warning, they will be asked to leave. - ​​All vehicles must park at their assigned site or in designated parking areas. Do not block the road or prevent access to other sites. Max of one (1) vehicle per site. Additional vehicle parking is available in the larger parking lot near the entrance to the campground. - Drive slowly (10 mph max) within the campground. - We love dogs. We accept all scruffy-duffy boys and girls (i.e., well-behaved dogs) regardless of breed. Other types of pets are not allowed. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times and must not be left unattended. Unfortunately, dogs who bark too much are probably stressed out by the camping experience, so we will have to ask their owners to help them calm down or take them back home. Guests must clean up after their dog(s). - Alcohol is permitted within assigned sites for guests of legal drinking age. Do not take alcohol outside the assigned site. Please do not get out of control, or you will be asked to leave. - Campfires are only permitted in the provided fire rings. Do not leave fires unattended. Do not move the fire rings. Do not burn cans, glass, or trash. - Firewood is available for purchase 24x7 (self-service, honor system) at the Camp Store. Do not bring outside firewood. - Firearms are prohibited on the premises.
