Loft Mountain Campground

The campground is very well-kept, bathroom is clean, the campstore has literally everything you need for camping. The management did a good job in maintaining the privacy between campsites. We had other campers next to us on both sides but we couldn't see them, we hardly heard them either, which was awesome! You can also walk/or drive to the Amphitheatre and enjoy the sunset with spectacular view. However, the shower rooms are operated by coins ($1.75 for 5.25 min). The coin machine kept jamping and I ended up not getting a shower. That's the only downside we found on our stay at Loft Mountain…

Absolutely loved this place. I had a reservation, but a lot of first come first serve places. Has table, bear safe, and fire pit.

This was our first campground we stayed while spending a week in Shenandoah. The sites are mixed but generally have natural barriers from neighbors unlike some of the larger grounds in Shenandoah. We loved the privacy and proximity to the Appalachian trail, views were excellent when taking the trail. It's unfortunate though that dogs are not allowed on the "discovery" trails like the Frazier trail for easier route to get back to the campground while hiking.

Be prepared for what you're getting into. We were fortunate enough to be here during off season so it wasn't TOO BAD. However during peak season I could not imagine camping here. There is ZERO privacy between sites. You're practically elbow to elbow with your neighbors. The people that were here were all incredibly disrespectful as far as keeping their noise contained to their sites. Dogs barking, kids screaming, music. Holy cow when this place is actually full it'd be a living hell. There are showers but they are tiny (unless you're lucky enough to get the one big stall available.) And if one…
