Lake Minatare State Recreation Area

Amazing camping. Very enjoyable.

Lake Minatare, Nebraska I gave this beautiful place a less than perfect score because it was so pricey for a one night stay. We had to pay a 2 night minimum plus the daily user fee so it cost us $75 for one night. We did have an electric hook up and the parking pads are asphalt and there is a grill and picnic table for each site but no water at our site. There is water by the main bathhouse.

We arrived at this campground after full day of driving and started to look for our reserved campsite. We were stopped by the park police and given a $72 ticket for not having a park pass even though we were on our way to the park office and would’ve pick one up. So be careful if you are an out-of-state resident and unfamiliar with this campground.

I took my grand children. They had fun walking the beach and going up to the top of the light house.so cool.

Lake Minatare State Recreation Area near Scottsbluff and Gering, Nebraska is a scenic place to visit if you’re exploring the area during the Monument Marathon or looking for a quiet stop near Scotts Bluff National Monument. The lake sits about 11 miles northeast of town and is known for its 1930s-era lighthouse, which was the main reason we made the trip out. Climbing the lighthouse was a really fun experience.
