My review is based on my recent stay at the Red Oak Campground. Pros- Extensive trails with several overlooks and ponds. Clean restrooms, showers are updated with wand and “waterfall” type fixtures; hot water and good water pressure. Fast, free WiFi at the restroom building. Cons- Ticks! My son picked off 7 the first day, and he wasn’t in the trails or the woods (want wearing bug spray either). Campsites could use an update as most landscape timbers rotted away; some exposed rebar. The outdoor sink at the restrooms was out of order with the drain pipes visibly missing.

Stopped through here on a 1 nighter, wish we had been able to stay longer. It was early April, and the area was starting to bloom, it was great would definitely go back. We have a 40ft 5th wheel, and stayed in Red Oak, plenty of room.

While on a cross country motorcycle trip, I camped two weeknights in April at the Canoe Landing primitive campground. The park was nearly empty. It was very peaceful and quiet. The staff and camp hosts I interacted with were among the friendliest I’ve encountered anywhere. The facilities were clean, and the night sky was beautiful. I’d like to return and paddle the river.
