Loved this stay! Clean campgrounds, beautiful views, close to hiking and sand dunes, quiet, and the port-a-pottys are as clean as can be. Campsites are well spaced and the other campers were quiet. I did hear some coyote chattering off and on through the night, so if you travel with pets, follow the rules and keep them leashed and inside with you at night for their safety.
We just spent three nights at High Peaks Campground and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The owner, Christine, was incredibly sweet, personable, and communicative... she even switched our site last minute to accommodate our hookups. Our campsite was clean and well-maintained, complete with electric, water and a fire pit that made for perfect evenings under the stars. And boy, were there stars! The real star of this campground though is the view. Absolutely insane in every direction—sunrises, sunsets, and the night skies were unforgettable. We even got a double rainbow over our cam…
A MUST stop for any Colorado traveling. The RV dump site is very conveniently located. Everyone here including the ownership is nice as can be! The local Coffee shop, the Mirage Trading Company, roasts in house, and has some unreal coffee. The SLV is sure gorgeous! If coming in the winter, be sure to bring a heated hose. There is always plenty of fire wood and it smells AMAZING! There are a LOT of chipmunks and bunnies running around. During my stay I've seen a lot of folks who enjoy walking their dogs around. Christine was very welcoming and offered a pro tip on when to get to the sand dunes allowing us to avoid waiting in any lines! The views and sunsets are gorgeous. Site 15 was definitely close and would be best if you had a shared group, otherwise quiet! Had to remember to carry tp to the portapotty as they were usually out.
Beautiful views of the surrounding mountains, centrally located, and awesome to have hookups.
