This spot was great to come back to at the end of the day to wind down and enjoy the stars. Would definitely book here again! Just drive slow on the way up.

We loved staying at this funky and fabulous compound. The common space was very comfortable and inviting. The pool and hot tub were such a treat and the entire place was surrounded by stunning beauty! The kitchen was cool looking but not very functional. There was a grill but nothing else seemed to be working and there was no way to make coffee, so don’t plan to make anything that can’t be cooked on a grill.
We came here for the hot tub/pool situation and it did not disappoint. The sunsets painted the sky and mountains with color while we took them in from the hot tub with a drink in hand, and the stars blanketed the landscape at night.
Overall High Desert Protocol is a great place to camp with beautiful location and close to Joshua Tree NP. It is everything the photos show. Tao is present on grounds as well. My mixed feelings come because Tao contacted us the day before the trip to say he'd double booked and we couldn't stay the final night. When we arrived he shared that someone offered $10K to rent out the whole place, so he couldn't pass that up. I get that, but it left us scrambling to find another place to stay the final night. He was prompt in refunding the final night but we spent a lot more money and had to stay in a…
