DeSoto Falls Recreation Area

Desoto has beautiful waterfalls but is not well maintained. Bathrooms are the worst (so many issues from poor lighting to poor ventilation). The waterfalls have old dead trees that have not been cleared. Signage is good here but they should have the length of each hike on the initial board by parking. Parking should be $5 but there is almost no cell service, so unless you pre-pay via the Recreation App, it’s rough to pay. These trails are more difficult than we were told . If you have any physical difficulties I would not hike these trails steep and stairs on both trails lots of areas of roots strenuous in areas.Take bear spray and watch for snakes we saw one on the trail they are definitely there !!!!

Great little campground, close to lots of other activities and hiking opportunities - I've been camping here every year or 2 for nearly 3 decades! Frogtown Creek runs along the back of the grounds, providing several of the sites with the best sleepytime white noise you'll ever find! However, traffic on the road is unfortunately close, so you'll never get that "away from it all" peace and quiet vibe. There is a full restroom with running water in the front half of the campgrounds, but the showers are actually outside; the back half of the campground only has the standard hole in the ground toil…
