Deschutes River State Recreation Area Campground

This park is absolutely beautiful and the scenery is amazing. Located right were the Deschutes River branches off of the Columbia River you can't ask for a better fishing opportunity with dozens of moorings for those camping with boats. The only downside to this great state park is the blasted train tracks that surround the park on 2 sides. Trains blare through here constantly; which makes it super fun during most folks favorite hours of 12-1-2-3-4-5-6 & 7am and they're on the train horn letting the good folks know that, "Hey, here's yet another 2am train; which makes me super excited to hear …

We were really excited for our camping trip today, but unfortunately it turned into a huge disappointment. Within just 30 minutes of arriving, we had to pack up and leave because the area was covered in poop. It was everywhere—clearly not maintained and incredibly unpleasant to be around. It’s frustrating and honestly disgusting that such a beautiful outdoor space is being neglected like this. Responsible pet ownership and proper maintenance are the bare minimum, and this place failed badly on both. Really nice park off the highway! Water and electric. Don't know about septic dumping. Super affordable.
