Crawford Notch Campground

It’s really too bad the way this place is so poorly managed. It’s a gorgeous location as long as you get a spot farther from the highway. But we have stayed here multiple times in different years, and there are some persistent issues that management could fix but truly doesn’t care to deal with. Because of this, we will never be back. First, the bath house is poorly maintained. Hot water that you have to pay for is intermittent at best, and these are the most expensive coin-operated showers I’ve ever found. Pros: Beautiful campground, surprisingly quiet compared to other campgrounds I’ve been to, had a site closer to the river area (#41) beautiful view. Purposely stayed away from sites near the road. Long walk to main bathroom and showered though. Porta-potties right behind my site which was convenient for those midnight bathroom trips. Appreciate the cleanliness of sites (if you have a tent, ground is quite hard to drive the stakes in) and the bathrooms were clean, could use better ventilation. After you make your reservation online, make sure you select the "lock-in" option and pay even MORE than you expected, or they'll take your money and give the site that you chose to someone else. It's the most ridiculous money-grab ever. I called to try to resolve this issue and talked to a very unhelpful, rude lady. Canceled the reservation and on to a better, kinder campground! ✌️

I've camped here twice. What's up with this ridiculous "Lock your site location" fee? Is this not the whole point of making a reservation in the first place? Why do we have to pay extra? Disappointing.
