My stay at Copper Moon was fantastic! It was clean and spacious, with great mountain views and amazing stargazing, even under partially cloud skies. I was nervous about getting there in my Prius but if you go slow (10-15mph) and trust the directions sent by Jessica, you will arrive safely to this gorgeous campsite! While the location itself is private, I did note surrounding camp sites. I heard neighboring campers / music and cars driving by the road. Great camp site, nice and quiet, exactly what I needed!
Mostly as expected, patch of land with a few fire pits. Took the family out there to avoid the crowds of the National Park, so take the review with the context that I was with my wife, a 6 and a 3 year old. Main bummer immediately was some janky, shady looking establishments within 500 yards. One looked insane with storage containers, tee pees and old vehicles everywhere. Another was just a burned down house, looked recent. And then your standard methy looking campers parked around. So didn’t feel as isolated or private as I was imagining. Copper Moon is a very peaceful, bare bones, dispersed style campsite. Very quiet with decent views of the surrounding hills and desert near 29 Palms and Joshua Tree. Memorable moments - seeing all the burned out meth labs along the dirt roads leading up to the site, and being visited by a desert fox while chilling around the campfire. If you’re looking to rough it in or near Joshua Tree National Park and couldn’t reserve a site within the park then this is definitely a great spot to set up your shelter for the night.
