Chain O'Lakes State Park

This place is beautiful and so SPACIOUS. I spend much of my free time getting lost in here. Highly underrated little getaway. There is so many places to go in here that it’s hard to get bored of it

Like the park! Don't love the exit... I wish there was a less intimidating way to leave this park without having to drive over the pressure spikes.

Remarkable even during early spring! Scenic overlook near visitor center is great as well as the small trail there. Turner lake allows fishing opportunities. Some construction work near mud lake area closed that part of the park Late March 2026.

Visited on a warm late winter weekend. Lady working the check in station was friendly and helpful with suggestions and directing me to maps. We hiked the orange trail and walked through all the campgrounds (most closed so we could get a feel for campsites for camping later). As a primitive tent camper, we were happiest with Turner Lake South, prairie view seems more packed together and they did a ton of tree trimming on the south side of the campground. We loved the water access from several piers. The hiking was nice. Not a gazillion trails but they were nice and well maintained. Pit toilets …

Tried to come into the park to checkout the sunset and the lady in the office said it was closed and threatened to call the cops if we didn’t leave. Miserable person to deal with.
