Blue Bear Mountain

Can’t say enough good things about this place! Other campgrounds from here on out will have a very hard time comparing. The scenery and feel of this place is truly unmatched and it is the quintessential Appalachian experience. Seclusion and peace are plentiful here and that’s exactly what me and my dog were hoping to find (we are regular backcountry hikers/campers). Plus the guy running the day to day, Mike, is one of the nicest and most down to earth dudes I’ve ever met. If I’m even half as cool/nice as him at his age I will consider my life a great success! Highly recommend a stay here!

Came to Blue Bear Mountain as my first ever van camping site with my boyfriend. The one staff on board was a great guy and very down to earth. He was someone I could share a beer with. I would recommend C3, it’s fully shaded so we had our privacy but none of the spaces were ever really far from the bathhouse. The bathhouse was kept clean and even when it suddenly snowed, it was fine for us to park by the bathhouse with the high winds going on. I rented the Blue Bear Cabin. It is advertised as "located in a private and secluded area, offering the perfect balance of seclusion and convenience." and "the real magic of the cabin is its idyllic location, surrounded by beautiful forests and streams." If right at the entrance, 50' from the very busy sewage dump station and right next to the junk and equipment storage area (this is also where you park for the cabin) is your idea of private and secluded, and if you believe that saying surrounded by forests and streams means that they are out there in the Blue Ridge mountains and not somethin…
