Amazing sunrises and sunsets. Sheer cliffs attest to area being underwater, long ago. Galaxies overhead at night are awesome and free from light pollution. Thus, great stargazing! Cattle and forage hay ranch, but cattle could be anywhere on the property. Absolutely no open fires. We are part of an Agricultural Conservancy. We do offer ranch tours at various times of the year. You may request a tour for an additional charge, when available. You'll have a 360 degree view overlooking the Santa Lucia Mountain Range as far as you can see to the West and the Sierra Nevada Range, as far as you can see to the East. We are conveniently located about 15 minutes off Hwy 101, to the North of San Miguel, and offer a private place to relax and rest overnight on your way to or from your other destinations. It is quiet! Occasionally, coyotes howl at night or our two handsome Angus bulls bellow, or a wild boar family grunts as they head from one location to another, usually with an entourage of piglets... just passing through. They are all part of the local country in California and add to the beauty, if you're fortunate enough to hear them from afar. The boar migrate and may not be around for weeks, as they have traveled elsewhere. You may miss all night sounds except the breeze, as most nights are completely silent. It's a rejuvenating experience! Please ask if interested in local day trips or points of interest, and we will try to accommodate you. We will suggest local activities. Lakes Nacimiento, San Antonio and Santa Margarita are an easy distance. All three are quite different from one another. Wine and Beer get a lot of press and rightly so, but there are other relaxing and inspiring activities for all, available when you are here! Each community has a city or town park, so you can enjoy relaxing or playing with your children on hot days, under tall, well-established trees. Everyone needs time to exercise, especially children! Camp Roberts, just North of Paso Robles, has two military museums to visit and the West Garrison is just over the 101 to the West of us! Out near the Paso Robles Airport there is the Warbird Museum, a must for military aircraft and history buffs. iginal full-size restored aircraft with amazing stories behind each one. numbers of cars Breweries, numerous wineries, and distilleries abound! Quiet. Peaceful. Beautiful. Exactly what we needed. It's off the beaten track, and worth it. Glenna is fantastic. She met us as we came in the gate, and led us in her car "follow me" style through another gate and out to the airstrip -- pretty straightforward. We picked a spot off to the side of the airstrip. (The airstrip is not in current use, but I like to keep these things clear in case someone needs it.) Do watch for the opening direction of the gates -- they are automatic and you don't want to pull too close to the ones that open toward you. We took a walk along the base …
What a great spot this was. Beautiful rolling hills, easy to find and Gee Gee was a real pleasure to speak with. Also close to Paso and wineries! We will certainly be back and tell our friends.
Beautiful valley, grassland in all directions. The night sky was dark so all the stars were bright. There were no other campers the night we stayed, very quiet and peaceful.
It was very peaceful! Our gps tried sending us through back roads so make sure you get off the highway correctly to use the arrival instructions. Gee Gee was waiting for us and helped us get settled. It was very peaceful and enjoyable.
Gee Gee's airstrip is a very quiet, remote-feeling spot, with a great view of the Milky Way! It felt like an adventure getting there, as we ended up on a Navy base, and arrived in the pitch dark. Gee Gee was extremely helpful and kind, guiding and reassuring us on our way to her airstrip, as we arrived quite late at night. Our GPS directions totally threw us off, and she guided us back onto the freeway and to her place, waiting for us at the gate. What a place! Quiet and peaceful. Gee Gee was a wonderful hostess! I was able to clearly see the Milky Way in the night sky and saw many shooting stars. I also really enjoyed hearing the coyotes sing their songs. It is a unique opportunity to get a glimpse of the California of long ago.
