About Batesville Mountain Campground
Batesville Mountain Campground is about "getting away from it all" with nary another soul in sight. If you have qualms about being alone in the woods -- this is NOT the place!! There are only four campsites on the entire property so you are always out of sight and hearing of any -- you can even upgrade for $10/night and have the entire property all to yourself! It is that special!! And absolutely jaw-dropping beautiful! Sparky, the stone mason who quarried, cut and stacked every rock on every trail within the campground, has created a wondrous place to come camp and explore. We are also now restoring Sparky's original homestead -- the one room Green Cabin is soon to be our new "romantic retreat" with outdoor kitchen and shower, chicken house, and two-hole traditional Swedish "utedass"–or privy. As to where to sleep ... well you may lay your head anywhere -- under the stars, atop a pinnacle, out in a field or sheltered in the woods by the river. BUT this is "DIY" camping -- as we have day jobs we are unable to cater to your every whim and you will have to be able to "depend on yourself" to negotiate the campground, set up your campsite and secure needed resources. Thus if there is any concern or question you really should stay at one of our other properties either Camp Toasty or Pinnacle Springs Recreational Camp. PLEASE -- we don't want to be bothered with phone calls and text messages -- not here anyway. Trails from Sparky's Cabin lead in all directions offer access to hiking, swimming, fishing and paddling. You'll find no better place to "forest bathe".

What a hidden gem this was! When I saw that I could have the entire property to myself it was hard to believe. But if you are looking for a place to unplug, connect with nature and your Creator, this is a perfect spot. The water was great, the fishing was good, plenty of hiking around the property to do and the only visitor I had all weekend had 4 legs. 10/10 recommend the river spot.
We love the creek, bluffs and trails that lay out across the property, Thanks for having us!!
It’s a beautiful site, but bring your own bathroom essentials and toilet just in case. While we were there, other people were also camping there near the toilets and hogged it. Tried to contact host but no response. Tried to contact via hipcamp and also a few calls and texts. Other than that, it was truly a beautiful spot with nice trails.
The river campsite was in good shape for tent camping and easy to find. The campground itself isn't marked well from the road so it was difficult to know when you were at the right place. However, we did pay the $10/night fee to have the campground to ourselves and we were not the only ones there. The other people there kept to themselves though. The first night's sleep was rough as there were many dogs barking throughout the entire night. It wasn't quite what we expected as a whole, but the campsite itself was nice.
Great place! Loved walking down next to the river & watching the sunset from camp. Easy to get in and out of. Lots of roaming dogs but were all friendly!
