Applied excessive fees while having few services at the park

My husband and I have been camping at Acadia Shores RV Campground, in our motorhome, for five times in the last ten years. We enjoy this campground because it seems mostly suited for Senior Citizens (which we are). There is no swimming pool, playground, or arcade, all of which attracts young children. The campground is super clean, the lots are spacious, and the views out onto Flanders Bay, and across the Bay to Cadillac Mountain are priceless. All sites have electric and water hookups. BEWARE before making your reservation!! I made a reservation at this campground 5 months in advance and ended up canceling 4 months prior to my stay. Despite giving them plenty of notice, they still kept $200 as a cancellation penalty. That’s honestly hard to justify. If I had canceled last minute, I could understand a fee—but 4 months out? In a high-demand area where sites will almost certainly be rebooked, this feels excessive and unreasonable. Policies like this come across as more of a cash grab than a fair business practice. I know this review is a little late, but I had to share what an amazing experience I had. The owners of the facility were absolutely wonderful—kind, welcoming, and truly caring. Everyone staying there seemed genuinely happy and well taken care of. It’s clear they’re doing something right, and they’re lucky to have such great people running the place.

Great place, coming back next Sept. One of my favorite places.
